There is an old saying that “birds of a feather flock together” also, that “it’s hard to fly like an eagle when you are dealing with turkeys”. What both of these are trying to say, is that you imitate the people you spend time with and that you will be no more successful than the people that you keep company with.
If you want to be successful, it is important to have friends and colleagues that are successful. This rule also extends to those that you interact with on a regular basis. I’m not saying that you need to get rid of all your friends that do not have an outstanding career, however, you should make it a priority to get to know the people who are leaders in their particular fields.
Having successful people in your life helps both your personal and professional development.
You have probably heard countless stories where people started a new business, but friends and family discouraged them or gave reasons why they shouldn’t do it.
This situation can pan out in two different ways: they strive, and manage to be successful despite everyone’s doubts or, you have the common scenario where entrepreneurs allow negative comments to influence them and they never manage to reach their full potential.
This is why it is important that we connect with others in a positive business environment when having a business or starting a venture. This type of environment encourages you to exchange ideas and offers you the possibility of having mentors that support and respect you.
Whether you are a sole proprietor or have employees, this kind of resource is very important. I’m saying this for a reason: being able to share ideas, reflect and get constructive criticism is invaluable. Not to mention having the friendship of someone who does not have a vested interest in your business, but is simply interested in you doing well. This is common for people who have reached a certain level of success.
You have probably seen movies or read stories, where successful people who come from completely different businesses become friends and play golf together, attend parties, and dine at high-end restaurants where they “talk shop”.
Truth is, that no matter the business domain, we have similar problems on the road to success. A person who is doing well in business will have a personal insight and vision that they share with their friends. So keep in mind: whether it is over expensive drinks, or in a formal setting, coaching and sharing are invaluable.
An entrepreneur that surrounds himself with successful people has a secret weapon: a professional who knows where the pitfalls and hurdles are.
Successful people do not just wake up and become that way by accident. The bad times teach them just as much as the good times.
An experienced person can tell you if you are too focused on a specific aspect of your business of if you’re not focused at all. They can coach you in how to expand your business, manage time, and even on how to avoid those diversions that might deter you from your main objective.
As a seasoned entrepreneur, I can tell you that having had a coach and also surrounding myself with successful people, helped me evolve from employee, to novice, to expert.
I have been where you are now, and I fully understand the need to grow and to take that business ambition and make it a reality. I understand, because I have also been where you are now and I learned and mastered all the necessary steps that can take you to achieving your end goals.
I have had an amazing coach who made me fall in love with the coaching process. This is why I coach other people now, and why I am excited to share with you what I have prepared.
Running my business has changed my life and the life of my loved ones as well. I found that many were curious about how I managed to get where I am now, and about the steps that they can take for their own business and ideas to become successful.
